A Joint action committee of SC, ST and OBC organizations organized Press conference at Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji maharaj Bahu Fort, Jammu to voice their deep outrage and grave concerns over the mishandling of FIR no 136/2024 dated 16-05-2024 under section 376,307 1Pc by police station Domana.
The case was also mishandled at women police station Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The organizations condemned the submission of an incomplete chargesheet, accusing the investigating officers of deliberately omitting crucial evidence-an act they believe is a calculated attempt to shield accused and his associates from justice. The presidents were particularly incensed by the officers intentional exclusion of sections from SC/ST/Act, viewing it as a blatant move to undermine the Victim’s rights and aic the perpetrators.
While addressing the media persons the presidents of different organizations/Associations /Sabha’s demanded: –
Immediate recovery of dead body of the child for last rights. They made an urgent and impassioned plea for the immediate recovery of the deceased newborn child’s body.
Re-investigation and transfer of case to CBI: – The joint action committee unanimously called for the case to be taken out of the hands of the current, compromised authorities and handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (SBI). They asserted that only a re-investigation by an independent and impartial body like the CBI can uncover the truth and deliver the justice that has so far been denied.
Immediate Suspension and accountability of investigating officers: – The Joint Action committee demanded nothing less than the immediate suspension of investigating officers. They accused these officers of gross betrayal of their duties, conspiring with the accused, Varun Saini and his associates, to pervert the course of justice. The committee insisted that these officers face stringent departmental action and be held fully accountable for their actions.
Ensuring the Satety and Security of the Victim and Her Family:- With deep concern, the JAC highlighted ongoing threats against the victim and her family by the accused and his associates. They urged the authorities to act swiftly and decisively to ensure the safety of the victim and her loved ones, whose lives are at risk due to their courageous pursuit of justice.
The Joint Action committee of SC, ST, and OBC organizations stood resolute in their commitment to seeing justice served.
They vowed to continue their fight against discrimination, and injustice, and called upon the authorities to respond to their demands with the urgency and seriousness that this case deserves.
They warned that failure to act would not only further erode public trust in the justice system but also embolden those who believe they are above the law. S. Pura, Madan lal Basson- President Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Akhnoor, Sunita Bangotra- President Savitri Bai Phule Mahila sangathan, Roshni Kumari-Social Activist, Rani Devi-Mother of victim also spoke on this occasion other presidents of different Sabha’s/organizations participated.
