JU Organises National Seminar on “Experiential Learning: Innovation and Trends”

Department of Education, University of Jammu organized a one day National seminar on “Experiential Learning: Innovation and Trends” under UGC Special Assistance Programme (SAP) at the level of DRS-II with four subthemes. The seminar was inaugurated by the chief guest Prof. Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu with lightning of the traditional lamp followed by a prayer conducted by the students of the department. Prof. Keshav Sharma addressed about the importance of experiential learning and also congratulated the department of education for organizing seminar at national level on such a theme that acquainted the delegates with the contexts and concerns of experiential learning. The key note Address were presented by Prof. Avinash K.Singh , Department of Education policy, National Institute of Educational planning and Admnistration, Prof. Nityananda Pradhan, Principal, Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal , Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee, Associate Professor and Deputy director, International institute for higher educational research and capacity building, O.P.Jindal Global University. In their address, they highlighted the need and importance of experiential learning and emphasized on its importance and also revealed that why it is important to teach and learn through experiences and reflection on doing. Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Prof. Mubarak Singh and Prof. Renu Nanda were organizing secretary, seminar coordinator and Deputy Coordinator of the seminar respectively. The seminar was attended by over 81 participants from different institutions of education belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan.
Earlier, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Head, Department of Education, University of Jammu , in his welcome address welcomed the resource persons and delegates and introduced the gathering to the theme of the seminar. Prof. Mubarak Singh, Director UGC –SAP threw light on the importance of organizing such seminar.
Dr. Kajal Manhas conducted the Plenary Session and Dr.Ana Bali presented the vote of thanks during inaugural session. There were two technical sessions which were chaired by Prof. Lokesh K. Verma, Ms. Sunaina Tickoo, Dr. Kavita Suri, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Prof. Arti Bakshi, Prof. Darshana Sharma, Prof. Mubrak Singh and Prof. Sanjay Gupta along with Co-chairperson Dr. S.K. Panda, Dr. Sheetal Sharma, Dr. Ana Bali, Dr. Niharika Panda, Dr. Kajal Manhas, Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Komal Nagar, Dr. Seema Nargotra and Dr. Raj Kumar respectively. In the valedictory session, Prof. Mubarak Singh welcomed the chief guest, resource persons and the audience. Ms. Sunaina Tickoo, CEO and founder of brainpreneurs stated experiential learning is important to prepare a child for future. Prof. Renu Nanda threw light on the proceedings of the seminar highlighting the outcome of the seminar. Chief Guest Prof. Avinash K. Singh presented his enlightening views regarding experiential learning . The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Kajal Manhas.
