JU organizes Lectures on “Gender Sensitization” and “Cyber Crime”

Under the aegis of Chemical Society of PG Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu, two lectures were organised today in the Seminar Hall of Department of Computer Science by Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu.

Lectures began with the formal introduction by Ms. Vaishali Thakur, student of M.Sc. Semester-III and welcome address was delivered by Prof. H.N. Sheikh, Head of the Chemistry Department.

The first lecture was delivered by Prof. Savita Nayar (Director, Centre for Women Studies), Department of Law, on “Gender Sensitization”. She sensitized the audience about the gender issues, such as harassment at workplace, domestic violence, etc. She guided students about various aspects of gender sensitization as to how we can foster it in our professional spaces. She emphasized upon how to file the complaint in case of harassment at workplace.

Mr. Yaseen Kichloo (SSP Cyber Crime Institute for Excellence, Jammu) delivered the second lecture on “Cyber Crime”. He informed audienceabout the evolving landscape of cyber threats and crimes in view of increasing dependence on digital platforms for various social and professional activities. He also sensitized the audience about the need to remain informed, vigilant and proactive to safeguard themselves from cyber threats and crimes.

The students actively participated in the discussions. Session concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Vaishali Thakur. Faculty members who joined the session were Prof. Kamal K. Kapoor, Prof. Satya Paul, Prof. D.S. Sambyal, Dr. Monika Gupta, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Dr. Riahc SInghal, Dr. Nitika Sharma and Dr. Amir Fayaz. Scholars, students and non-teaching staff also joined the sessions.
