RAJOURI SEPT 19:
The two day divisional level kabaddi tournament for boys concluded today here at Palam. The valedictory function was presided over by District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad. The tournament was organised by Department of Youth Services and sports.
Over 230 players of U/14,U/17 and U/19 age group from eight districts of Jammu division, including, Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Reasi, Udampur, Ramban, Samba and Kathua participated in the tournament. District Jammu thrashed district Samba by a margin of 17 points (score:35/18) in U/14 in the final, district Jammu defeated district Kathua by a margin of 09 points(score: 33/24) in U/17 and in U/19 district Kathua beat district Samba by a margin of 05 points(score:37/32) Addressing the players, the DDC said that sports is an integral part of student’s life without which the mental and physical growth of a person is impossible.
He urged upon the youth to actively participate in sports activities and inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship.
Later, medals and mementos were presented to the winner and runner up teams. District Youth and sports officer, senior officers from district administration, prominent citizens, students and children were present on the occasion.
