: Kallpoosh Foundation, an NGO working for the upliftment of the society and preserving cultural heritage is going to organise a mega traditional cultural show at Abhinav Theatre on May 6, at 5 pm in which the traditional dress competition will be the main attraction.
Addressing a press conference here today, the Chairperson of Kallpoosh Foundation Veena Wanchoo said that the foundation was working to preserve the rich cultural traditions of Kashmiri Pandits besides working for the upliftment of the society in general and has decided to initiate a dress competition among the new generation to imbibe the affection towards their lost cultural heritage and dresses.
She said that younger generation will participate in the event to create awareness about the old traditional dresses worn by the Kashmiri Pandits and also showcase other heritage of the community.
Veena Wanchoo invited all the people to witness the show and encourage the younger generation to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Kallpoosh Foundation is providing medical assistance both in cash and kind to the needy and sick members of the society and holding medical and blood donation camps every year.
The foundation is working for a clean environment and educating and encouraging people for Swach Bharat Abhiyan besides preparing them to work against cruelty to animals by providing assistance to those who work for street animals.
The Foundation believes in cow worship and encourages establishment of Gov Shallas wherever possible.
Elaborating on the working of the Foundation Veena wanchoo said that after the displacement of KP community from the valley in 1990 more than 3 lac KP families were rendered homeless, jobless and rootless adding many social workers and organisations came forward to help their brethren but there was lot more to be done for the underprivileged communities in general and KP community in particular.
In this direction, Kallaposh Foundation, a socio cultural organization was established in the year 2018 under the chairperson Veena Wanchoo with the objectives to establish, promote and set-up educational centres, libraries and study centres in different parts of our country.
The Foundation works to financially help the needy n deserving students n provide them guidance and counselling, to help students in general and girl children in particular to seek trainings under skill development program and to work for the placement of youths.
The foundation also provides books, stationary, uniforms and different educational aids to the needy students.
On the socio-cultural front it strives to establish cultural centres, workshops for the artists ( Music, Drama, Dance and other performing arts besides providing financial and other help as and when required for encouragement of art and artists and to publish art and craft magazines.
The foundation show cases the talent of the children and youth and provides every kind of help to the aged and infirm members of the society as well as helping youth interested in games, sports and yoga and meditation.
The Foundation is managed by experienced trustees which include Mrs.Veena Wanchoo Chairperson and sole trustee, besides Veer ji Dullu, Director of the foundation, Ajay Razdan coordinator for different projects, Ravi Mahaldar advisor of all kind of guidance and support.
