Shaheed Veer Udhaymaan Singh memorial committee organized a program to commemorate the 20th martyrdom day of Kargil martyr Udhaymaan Singh (Sena Medal) at his native village Shama Chack, Jhiri, Jammu July 5th, 2019 who scarified his life during Operation Vijay in Kargil Sector on 5th July, 1999.
Sh. Ravinder Raina President, BJP, J&K as Chief Guest and Sh. Sham Lal Sharma, Former Minister, Th. Narayan Singh, President, Amar Kshatriya Rajput, Smt. Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, JMC, Adv. Abhinav Sharma, President, Bar Association, Jammu and Sh. Ashwani Jojra, Founder Sahyog India were also attended the Shaheedi Samorah as Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest highlighted the contribution of our Army personnel to maintain the peace and tranquility in the entire country and said the supreme sacrifice made by son of the soil is an example for youth of the area. He expressed his solidarity with the families of each martyr family. He said the conqueration of the Tiger Hill was not an easy task for Indian Army, only tigers dared to climb and conquer the tiger hill after the whole night climbe and had hand to hand fight with militants in early morning on 5th July, 1999. The 18th Grenadier achieved the assigned task. Unfortunately have lost eight soldiers.
The commemoration gathering was also addressed by the other dignitaries too.
The God of honour was presented by the Army personnal followed by the paid floral tributes presented by the family members and residents of village Shamachack including various civil officers.
After the Shardhanjali a cultural programme was presented by the students, the emotional poems recited by the nieces (Kundanika and Anmol) of Udhaymaan attracts the special attention of the gathering.
At the end of the programme, the Chief Minister and mother of Veer Udhaymaan distributed school uniforms and books to the poor students of the locality abreast to the students participated in the cultural programme.
On the 20th Martyr day of the Udhaymaan, a plantation drive was also taken of in the park of Baba da Talab area with active support of the Forest Officers.
