In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Kathua Police has attached movable and immovable property worth ₹14.58 lakh belonging to a notorious drug smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Billawar. The attached assets include a two-storey residential building and a scooty, both believed to be acquired through proceeds from drug trafficking.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by SHO PS Billawar, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, assisted by In-Charge Police Post Ramkot, Ranbheer Singh, under the

supervision of SDPO Billawar, Neeraj Padyar (JKPS) and overall guidance of SSP Kathua, Shobit Saksena (IPS).
The action was taken under Sections 68-A(2)(c) and (e) read with 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, which provides for attachment of properties derived from illegal drug trade.
The seized assets include: A Scooty (Regd. No. JK08M-4244) valued at approximately ₹80,000. A Double-storey residential building valued at ₹13.78 lakh.
The accused, identified as Rahul alias Rotu, son of Balbir Singh, a resident of Ward No. 4, Tehsil Ramkot, District Kathua, is currently lodged in judicial custody. He is facing charges in multiple NDPS-related cases, including: FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, PS Billawar FIR No. 170/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, PS Billawar
The attachment was executed after a detailed investigation, during which the properties were identified as illegally acquired through the narcotics trade. The Revenue and Transport Departments assisted police in tracing the assets and establishing their illicit origin.
This action is part of Kathua Police’s ongoing offensive against the drug menace in the region. The initiative has been widely appreciated by the local population, who have lauded the police for taking firm steps against drug traffickers.
