The holy town of Katra is set to host the 14th Mission Dosti International Indian Style Kushti Championship tomorrow. The event is being organised by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at SMVDSB Sports Complex, Katra in district Reasi.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to the smooth conduct of the competition, especially those bouts in women section and visiting wrestlers from foreign nations of Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Russia.
This was stated by Chairman of the organising committee and president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma while taking to media here today.
“Part of the ongoing Navratra Festival, the Kushti Championship will have main attraction in five free style foreign wrestlers, who shall be fighting against top wrestlers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and Maharashtra,” informed Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The competition shall start at 12 noon and valedictory function is scheduled to be held at 5.30 pm. A team of 20 officials and 55 other committee members comprised the technical penal for the mega event.
The winners of title bout shall be awarded with Rs 1,25,000 along with traditional Silver Gurj while the prize money for the second and third bout shall be Rs. 1,01,000.
