KCCI delegation calls on Advisor Ganai

SRINAGAR, JULY 16:
A delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today called on the Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, and apprised him about various issues confronting the trade and industry in the State.
During their interaction with Advisor, the delegation suggested for holding of Kashmir Festivals in big cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata to increase the footfall of tourists from these states.
The delegation sought intervention of the Advisor to allocate adequate funds out of the Prime Minister’s Special Package for J&K State for creation of assets in the tourism sector so that the carrying capacity of the state is enhanced to meet the flow of tourists during peak season.
KCCI delegation also requested the Advisor to approach the Union Ministry of Railways for running ‘Special Holiday Trains’, on the analogy of Rajasthan, so that the travelers crisscross the valley to enjoy its pristine beauty.
The delegation highlighted the need to immediately restore the Phase-I of the cable car at Gulmarg which was shut down due to cracking of shaft.
This they said has caused lot of inconvenience to the tourists who vouch for taking the gondola ride at the picturesque resort.
The delegation also brought to the notice of the Advisor the issue of exorbitant air fare which is acting as a deterrent for tourists to travel to the state.
Flood control measures, transport, horticulture and agriculture were among the other issues raised during the meeting.
