First 100 hotspots will be inaugurated on December 16. It will cost around Rs 100 crores,” Kejriwal said, reported ANI. “Every week 500 WiFi hotspots will be added, and within six months these 11,000 hotspots will be set up.” In August, the Delhi government had approved the free WiFi proposal. According to the plan, people will be able to use up to 15GB free data every month. 11,000 hotspots will be set up across the city in the first phase. All the 70 assembly constituencies will have 1,000 hotspots. Kejriwal said then that under the project, which will be executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, WiFi with 200 mbps internet speed will be available within 50 metre radius of the hotspot. The government will provide Rs 100 crore for the project annually. The Delhi assembly elections, to be held early next year. The AAP stormed to power in Delhi winning 67 of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi in 2015 polls. The BJP got just three seats. Congress drew a blank. AAP had also ruled out any chances for alliance with the Congress in the polls. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the AAP and the Congress were in talks to form a pre-poll alliance. But the talks were called off when the two parties could not reach an agreement on seat sharing.
