Shiv Sena Hindustan J&K President Pt Rajesh Kesri today complimented the Labour Class and other workers for making the lives of people easier and safer, describing the May Day as manifestation of their greater role and importance in the development of the country and its people. He also vowed to fight discrimination and injustices against the Labour section of J&K.
Addressing media persons in a press conference in Jammu today, Kesri laid emphasis over protecting and respecting the rights of Labour class. He expressed solidarity with the millions of workers across the country on May Day.He observed that the work-force in particular is facing a major brunt in present scenario.
“Though the May Day is reminiscent of the workers’ rights and societal response towards their well being yet there is greater need for the society to acknowledge its social responsibility towards these marginalized segments of the society”, Kesri said.
Kesri recalled May Day as synonymous to workers struggles and the subsequent empowerment in the late 19th century. In India, the labour class started observing May Day from May 1, 1923.“The day is important because of workers struggle for agitation in the United States against draconian Labour laws, worker’s rights violations, poor working conditions, and dreadful work hours,” he said.
In J&K daily wagers, need based, seasonal, casual Labours, ASHA’s under NHM, Anganwadi workers and helpers, Mid Day Meal workers, CPWs, MGNREGA employees, contractual & construction workers, artisans deserve Govt’s top priority. Paying rich tributes to Zaldagar martyrs of 1865, he said that they laid the foundation of a struggle against the exploitation and atrocities on the artisans, a prominent section of working class.
Kesri said that Labour is backbone of any country and it should be honoured. In India 70% of the population is linked with labour job but condition is not satisfactory. It indicates that Central and State Govt are not serious towards labour class.
