Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana today chaired the 3rd meeting of District Road Safety Committee to review the formation of District Road Safety Action Plan (2018-2020).
The meeting was coordinated by Abhay Indu Sharma, ARTO Kishtwar (Member Secretary DRSC, Kishtwar) and attended by members of District Road Safety Committee comprising of ADDC, CPO, XENs R&B, XENs PMGSY, representatives of NHIDCL, GREF, Traffic Police, Municipal Comittee, Health, Education, representatives of NGOs Ababeel and Hilal Healthcare Society besides other officers .
Threadbare discussions were held in detail for formulation of District Road Safety Action Plan (2018-2020 ) in a time bound manner.
The meeting recommended for improving road markings and signages, elimination of high risk stretches, creating Road Safety awareness, besides some issues raised by representatives of NGOs .
The DDC directed concerned authorities of NHIDCL to ensure removal of big boulders and other debris along the route from Drabshalla to Kishtwar in a week time. He also called for early scaling and erection of parapets and crash barriers at all the critical spots.
GREF authorities were directed to install signages, crash barriers, cat eyes and refractive tapes on vulnerable spots.
The DC directed traffic police to take strict action against violators and wrong parking specially inside district hospital .
The CEO was directed to create awareness in schools regarding Road Safety during morning assembly and through extra co- curricular activities.
The road construction agencies were directed to pin point the critical/black spots on particular road and also submit their plan for road safety.
The DDC laid emphasis on removal of encroachment and strict implementation of Ribbon Development Act.
