Actor Kriti Sanon is gearing up to play the female lead in Ashutosh Gowariker‘s upcoming film Panipat: The Great Betrayal. The film also features Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead. Panipat has Kriti performing some sword fighting scenes and speaking the Marathi language with perfection. In her latest interview with an entertainment portal, Kriti opened up on the same and more.
Kriti Sanon revealed that she learned sword fighting and performed a few scenes but doing these scenes while wearing a nauvari saree (saree draped in a Maharashtrian style) was more challenging. The Heropanti star said that she used to feel everything has gone just fine on the set after seeing her injuries after the shoot and at the time when she would hit the bed. Kriti was quoted by Bollywoodlife saying, “I was very excited and thrilled on that day because I was getting to do action. I was not at all scared but jumping with joy. I obviously did rehearse for it because I had to get it right, the postures – and not genuinely killing anyone on the set.”
Kriti also talked about using dialogues in Marathi and said that she had a Marathi language tutor who also used to be available on the sets to keep a strict watch over her accent and dialect. She said that even though the film is in Hindi, her character was required to speak a few dialogues that had some colloquial terms. Kriti said, “I did learn the language from a tutor named, Ketki. I would like to sit with her during my every scene and learn how to pronounce different words and add more on my own.”
Kriti plays the character of Parvatibai in the film, who’s the wife of Arjun Kapoor’s character Sadashivrao. It is believed that when the Maratha army went up to North under the leadership of Sadashivaro, Parvatibai was a constant support and was present even when the final battle of Panipat was fought. The film is based on the third Battle of Panipat which was fought in the year 1761 between the Marathas and the Afghans. Panipat: The Great Betrayal is slated to hit the screens on December 6 this year.
