New Delhi, Jan 24 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that only two ‘snan’ have been performed so far at the Kumbh Mela 2019 and already over three crore devotees have taken part in the event. He added that by the end of all six ‘snan’, this year’s Prayagraj Kumbh would hit the record for bringing together over 15 crore devotees.
Uttar Pradesh minister Mohsin Raza who visited the Sangam on the occasion of Paush Purnima described it as “heaven on earth”. He congratulated the state government’s efforts in successfully organising the Kumbh Mela. Raza, who is the minister of state for Muslim Waqf and Haj said on January 21, “Today, I got an opportunity to visit the Sangam. This is not only a point of confluence of rivers but the confluence of tehzeeb (culture).”
Apart from the bathing ritual, some of the other rituals performed in the 55-day Kumbh Mela event includes Makar Sankranti, Paush Purnima, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Maghi Purnima and Mahashivratri. Meanwhile, a Cabinet meeting is likely to be held by the Yogi Adityanath government in the tent city of Sangam at Kumbh Mela.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on January 29 or February 4, said a report by The Times of India. The report added that the Cabinet meeting will commence after the ministers take a holy dip.
The total funds allocated by the state government for the Kumbh Mela is Rs 4,200 crore, which is more than three times the budget of the Maha Kumbh in 2013, making the mega pilgrimage perhaps the costliest ever.
