Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu started 35 days Skill Development Programme on Floriculturist-Open cultivation today at its Head Quarter, Samba. The programme was attended by 20 participants from the different areas of the Samba district. This specialised training programme is sponsored by Govt. of India through Agriculture Skill Council of India and organized under the guidance of Prof. R.K. Arora, Assocaite Director Extnesion (KVKs) of SKUAST-Jammu. The progamme was started with the welcome address of Dr. Sanjay Khajuria.
Dr. Vinod Gupta, I/c Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Samba briefed the mandate of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the importance of training programme with the detailed view on floriculture.
He said that the flower cultivation is more economical and less labour intensity as compare to cereal crops and it generates the employment among the rural youth. He added that the provision of small financial services to the rural people through bank.
Dr. Neerja Sharma, Course Coordinator elaborated in detail about the 35 days training progamme and told the importance and scope of floriculture in rural economy. She laid thrust on area expension in floriculture with the adoption of flower crops. She disclosed that during this training programme besides theory classes, various practical classes will be organized. Many important issues regarding flower cultivations were discussed with participants. She urged participants to take the advantage of this training prgramme and how this venture can be make more successful.
In the end of programme, vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Sahil Talgotra.
