LAHDC Kargil committed to boost sports talent: Feroz Khan

KARGIL, JUNE 23:- Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today said that LAHDC Kargil is committed to take every such step which will give a boost to sporting activities and sporting talent in the district so that young players can showcase their talent at the State and National level.

The CEC stated this while inaugurating the Yarana Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Bemathang here today.

Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Punchoq Tashi was also present on the occasion.

Feroz Khan said that through the Department of Youth Service and Sports efforts are on to tap the sporting talent among youngsters in schools and colleges and appropriate opportunity would be given to talented players so that they can prove their mettle.

The CEC while appreciating the organizers Yarana Indians Baroo for having organized the T20 cricket tourney expressed optimism that it will go a long way in channelizing the energies of the youth in a positive and fruitful direction. He also hailed the charity activities being undertaken by the organizers for orphans and needy people in the district.

Feroz Khan further said that sports and games assume a lot of significance for the physical and mental wellbeing of the youth and urged upon the participating players to exude positivity, discipline and team spirit during the matches which he said would help them to develop as good human beings.

Er Punchoq Tashi in his address hailed the efforts of the organizers for holding the cricket tournament this year as well.

He expressed hope that the cricket tournament will help players develop in them the sense of oneness and friendliness besides helping them out with bringing in them physical and mental toughness to deal with difficult situations.

Former CEC Kargil Haji Muhammad Hanifa Jan, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil Haji Muhammad Jaffar, a number of district officers, prominent citizens, members of Yarana Indians Baroo, students and a large number of sporting enthusiasts were present on the occasion.

Later, a charity match was played between Kargil XI and Kashmir XI the proceeds of which were donated to the Ladakh Yateem Trust Lankarchay.
