Continuing its drive towards safeguarding consumer rights, a team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Kishtwar conducted inspection of various business establishments at Kishtwar, Chatroo, Mughal Maidan areas. During the drive, the team headed by Assistant Controller inspected 20 shops and booked 2 business units for violation of declaration norms and less weight in packaged commodities. Both the offenders requested for composition of cases with the assurance of not repeating the fault. The team imposed Rs 10,000 as composition fee on the violators. The department asked the traders to use only verified weighing and measuring instruments in commercial transactions to avoid any legal action.
