Lohri celebrated at kala Kendra with full gaiety and enthusiasm

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today celebrated Lohri in collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu, Gandhi Global family, J&K and Shri Rada Madhav Trust here at Kala Kendra, Jammu. Sh Sanjeev Verma IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the chief guest while Sh Rajesh Sikri, Session Judge, Mrs Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, Lt General (Retd), Rakesh Sharma, Major General Sunita Kapoor, Sh Mahant Ganga Dhar Shastri, Padmashree Dr Jatindra Udhampuri, Rakesh Gupta, Prsident, Chamber of Commerce and Industries were guests of honour.
While speaking on the occasion, Sh Sanjeev Verma appreciated Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and other collaborative organizations who for the first time arranged Lohri festival in such a way that the event became a memorable one.
He said that organizing such festivals with a collective approach where representatives from all walk of life like Chamber of commerce, Corporate Sector, social and literary organizations, artist community equally participated and among the gathering audience from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh remained present till the culmination of the programme which reflects the grand success of the said festival. He further assured full cooperation for organizing such mega events in future through which the tradition, culture and heritage of the region can be protected, documented and preserved.
While welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages extended his gratitude for Padmashree Dr SP Verma, President Gandhi Global Family, J&K and Sh Rajesh Bittu, President, Shri Radha Madhav Trust for organizing Lohri Festival here at Kala Kendra in collaboration with JKAACL and Kala Kendra, Jammu. He further said that such more activities will also be arranged in future.
Padmashree Dr SP Verma presented vote of thanks while Sh Bishan Dass, Assistant Cultural Officer, JKAACL conducted the proceedings of the programme in a befitting manner.
The artists who performed include: Jacson Group Jammu, Dhani Ram and Party(Chhajja Dance), mohan Mistri and Party (Haran), Shusmita Bannerji, Satinder Shanu, Aditya Kumar, Ramesh Yogi, Sham Manyal, Lokesh Chander and Sahil Jasotra (Tabla), Chandan Kumar (synth), Hardik (octopad).
