On Friday, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the birth anniversary of Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was celebrated with great pomp throughout India. Many processions and many big Brahmin conferences were organized in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir. During the religious program organized under the leadership of Pradhan Ashok Shastri at Lord Parshuram Temple of Akhnoor, the program of Havan Yagya and prayers was started from the morning itself. There was a steady stream of devotees paying obeisance at the temple throughout the day. Bhandara Prasad was distributed among the devotees.
Similar religious programs were also organized in many other areas of Jammu. To celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, Dogra Grameen Brahmin Sabha organized a huge Brahman Sammelan at 20 Miles on Friday. The program started with Havan, Yagya and Purnahuti under the chairmanship of President Krishna Lal Sharma. During the program, a Yagnopavit Ceremony was also performed for hundred students. During the program, a grand procession was also taken out by the youth which passed through Thati, Dumi, Sua No. 1, Agore, Jandial and concluded at Ranjan 20 Miles Resort.
During the grand Brahman Sammelan, Padmashree Pt. Vishwamurthy Shastri ji was present as the chief guest while Pt. Pandit Suresh Shastri, Pt. Vijay Parashar Shastri, Pt. Devraj Shastri was the Guest of Honors. Former minister Sham Lal Sharma, former MLA Devendra Singh Rana, advocate Abhinav Sharma, Vishwa Hindu Parishad general secretary Shakti Dutt Sharma, Somnath Khajuria, Vijay Sharma, Brahmin Sabha Akhnoor president Ashok Shastri attended the conference as special guests.
The chief guest Padmashree Pt. Vishwamurthy Shastri ji present during the conference told the people about the history and importance of Lord Parashuram. He also appealed to the gathering to follow the path of Sanatan Dharma and wage war against various social evils in the society. Saying that Brahman is one who has knowledge of both scriptures and scriptures, he called upon people to acquire more and more knowledge and spread it in the society so as to create a well-informed society and nation. Pandit Suresh Shastri sang devotional songs and bhajans to enthrall the gathering with the religious and spiritual atmosphere. Vijay Parashar Maharaj threw light on the responsibilities of a Brahmin in his sermon.
During this, Suresh Sharma, Neelkanth Sharma, Bhagwan Das Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Kewal Krishna Sharma, Madan Lal, Kishore Sharma, Romesh Sharma, Parshotam Sharma, Naresh Sudan, Ankush Sharma, Vinod, Vijay Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Sita Ram Sharma, Tara Mani Sharma, Suresh Khajuria, Rahul Sudan, Himanshu Sudan etc. were present.
