Luthra stresses need for political empowerment, economic emancipation of women

JAMMU, Aug 17:
Vice President National Conference Women Wing and former legislator Mrs Bimla Luthra today said that political empowerment and economic emancipation of women is imperative for harmonious growth of the society, adding they have greatly contributed in various fields, be it administration, academics or health care.
“Given opportunity, women have proven to be second to none”, she said while addressing women workers at Village Chak Block Bishnah adding that National Conference has pioneered various measures for the upliftment of this important segment of society over the years.
Mrs Luthra exhorted women to play their designated role in the decision making and development by actively engaging in participatory democracy.
Mrs Luthra said that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a most difficult phase and National Conference alone can bring political stability. The party is well poised to surmount all these challenges with courage and fortitude.
Mrs Luthra said that National Conference is a force to reckon with and expressed confidence that given the support of the people, the party will assuage the urges and aspirations of the people irrespective of region, religion or caste. The track record of the party stands testimony to the fact that it has ensured development and provided equal opportunities of progress to all the regions and sub regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent among those present included Mrs Sabita Devi, Mrs Bharti, Mrs Jyoti Devi, Mrs Rajni and others.
