In a major political development, 120 sarpanches, panches, and Congress workers from Pragwal Mandal in the Akhnoor constituency have shifted their allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move dealt a significant blow to the Congress party. BJP candidate Mohanlal Bhagat welcomed the new members into the party with floral garlands on Friday, expressing optimism that their inclusion would lead to overwhelming support for the BJP in the entire mandal.
Mohanlal Bhagat emphasized that those joining the BJP were motivated by the progressive policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He further highlighted that these leaders are committed to ensuring Jammu & Kashmir sees its first Hindu Dogra Chief Minister, which is why they have chosen to become a part of the BJP family.
Speaking at various meetings in Pargwal, Mohan Lal emphasized the strong wave of support for the BJP in the region, with the public’s enthusiasm indicating a BJP victory in the current elections. “It has been a decades-old dream of the people of Jammu to have a Hindu Chief Minister, and now is the time to make that a reality,” Mohan said, stressing that Jammu residents are ready to deliver a decisive mandate for the BJP.
Criticizing the Congress, National Conference (NC), and PDP, he accused them of exploiting power, discriminating against Jammu, and promoting communalism and instability. He urged voters to reject Congress, NC, and PDP in the upcoming elections, showing support for the BJP for comprehensive development and grassroots democracy.
The event saw the presence of BJP leaders, including Mandal President Bhupender Singh, senior leaders Ram Swaroop Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Pawan Manhas, among several others.
Prominent individuals who joined the BJP included Tarsem Singh Manhas, Chhagger Singh, Kaku Singh from Najwal, Ratan Lal Sharma, former sarpanch Naseeb Singh Manhas from Bhalwal Mullo, Prem Singh, Pritam Singh, retired senior lecturer Suraj Singh, Ajit Singh, Chain Singh, Jaswant Singh, Amandeep Singh, Dilbagh Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Madan Singh, Shyam Singh, Joginder Singh, Rattan Singh Bhau, Balbir Singh, Madan Lal Verma, Charanjeet Singh, Surender Singh, Yashpal Babu, Subedar Naresh Sharma, Ghar Singh, Balwan Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Mamta Singh, Kulwant Singh, Balwinder Singh, Mangat Singh, Ajay Singh, Deepak Singh, Naib Sarpanch Pindi Mahinder Singh and several others.
This influx of prominent local leaders is expected to bolster the BJP’s strength significantly in the region.
