Manav Uthaan, an NGO organized one-day awareness camp for women at village Alleh in Arnia Tehsil. The camp was held to educate the ladies on Women’s Day. Over 200 women and 50 men from Alleh and adjoining villages attended the camp. It was told by the President of Manav Uthaan Seema Mahajan that the NGO is aiming at setting up some small scale units in the area to provide source of employment to the women of border area, who badly need the same to run their families.
The sources of income in the border area are very meager as the cultivable land being close to the border lacks reliance in view of regular ceasefire violations by Pakistan. To have a study of the mental inclination of the women there, an on the spot assessment was made about the job they have interest in. It was emphatically told by the President that her NGO will make a study and plan establishment of small scale units for the village groups so that women could work there and earn their livelihood.
Since the educational background of most of the women in this area is not upto the mark, it was planned that a computer centre will subsequently be established for the new generation girls to make them self-reliant.
Sonia Sharma, General Secretary of Manav Uthaan also spoke in the camp and shared her views with the women present there. Raj Kumar of Hindu Mahasabha had and Raj Kumari of village Alleh keenly assisted in organizing the programme. City Convener of Hindu Mahasabha, Jammu Ashok Kumar was also present on the occasion.
