Jammu, May, 15:
JKPCC Working President and Congress contesting candidate from Jammu-Reasi parliamentary constituency Raman Bhalla Wednesday predicted the BJP will not get past the 200-seat mark in the ensuing parliamentary elections since there is a “very strong nation-wide sentiment” against the party and a significant chunk of people consider it a “threat to democracy”.”I think there is a very strong sentiment against the BJP for multiple reasons. They are seen as a threat to democracy. This was stated by former Minister while interacting with prominent persons of Sanjay Nagar, Digiana organized by Corporator Dewarka Choudhary. On this occasion booth agents of Digiana area were felicitated for their dedicated work and well coordinated efforts .Prominent among those present on the occasion include S. Taranjeet Singh Tony Gen Secy JKPCC, Vijay Chib, Maggar Singh, Bhushan Reddi, Mohinder Singh, Vijendar Singh Deepu, Mohinder Singh, S.Bachan Singh, Surjeet Singh, Avtar Singh Kala Attar Singh, Swarn Singh, Siyal Singh, Kamla Devi, Madam Paramjeet Kour, Poli, Gurdeep Singh Kaka, Kirpal Singh, Ravi Gupta, S. Krishan Singh, Darshan Singh, Vijay Choudhary, Sanjeev Kumar Shinda, S. Balbir Singh, Cpt. Subash Chander, S. Gurcharan Singh, Charanjeet Singh besides others.
Bhalla further alleged that BJP’s “communal propaganda” was also one of the several causes behind their declining popularity. “By and large, people do not like these things. They see it as an attempt to divide the nation on communal lines which will weaken the country. Therefore, I feel that the BJP is not going to make a comeback. He said if the opposition coalition forms the next government at the Centre, it would be the Congress which “will be its face”. He said that the mood of the people, after foure phases of election, and reports emerging from states going to polls in remaining three phases are indicating that INDIA bloc will form the next govt at the Centre with Rahul Gandhi most likely to become the Prime Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constant criticism of Nehru-Gandhi family. “After the death of former PM Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, the Nehru-Gandhi family did not hold any official position. But Modi keeps targeting Rahul and his family,” he said.PM Modi has almost transformed India into a ‘banana republic’ and that parliamentary democracy would be in danger if the BJP comes back to power at the Centre, he said. He asserted that the opposition INDIA bloc is in a strong position after four phases of Lok Sabha polls and that the people of the country are prepared to bid farewell to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bhalla also said that 2024 election is to save the Constitution and asked why PM Modi has not taken action against those talking of changing the Constitution.”Four rounds of polling have been completed in the country. The INDIA bloc is in a very strong position. INDIA bloc is going to form the new government on June 4,” he said.He claimed that the BJP will change the Constitution if it comes to power again. He said the Congress made a law to ensure food is provided to the poor.”If INDIA bloc govt is formed, we will provide 10 kg of free ration per month to the poor,” he added.Emphasizing the significance of voting and urging people to participate in large numbers, he said: “Remember, your one vote will not only protect your democratic rights but will also change the fate of your entire family.”“One vote is equal to the first job of Rs one lakh per year guaranteed for youth.
One vote is equal to Rs one lakh per year in the bank account of poor women,” he added, highlighting his election promises.
Reiterating that voting could bring about significant changes, the Congress leader added so come out in large numbers and vote and show that the country will now vote on its issues – it will not get distracted. The reason for the rise of the Congress in all parts of the Country is two-fold. First, there are the misdeeds of the Modi govt. Over the past 10 years, BJP Govt has sowed division among the Indian people, plunged crores of our people into poverty and destitution while transferring large quantities of our National assets into the hands of a handful of businessmen. The second reason for the shift in the Nation’s mood is the answers that the Congress is offering them in these dark times. At the national level, the Congress has set out a political narrative centered around social justice for all communities.
Bhalla said Congress always helped people realize that hatred, division and the denial of the dignity of minorities will not bring our children the jobs they need. We have instead championed economic ideas that support small businesses, spread the national wealth and create jobs. Most of all, Rahul Gandhi is being welcomed wherever he goes as the leader that India needs in these troubled times. It is no wonder that people from every corner of the land are embracing the Congress Party and its message of inclusion, justice, love and hope. This festive season is filled with hope for the future of India and its people, added Bhalla.
