As per the directions by the Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, it has been decided by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to organize Ujjwala Diwas on April 20, 2018 across the country.
In this connection, Member Parliament Rajya Sabha Shamsher Singh Manhas today distributed more than 100 free LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) connections among BPL families at a function organized by Hindustan Petroleum at Village Sohanjna, Block- Flian Mandal, Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion, the MP said that Central and State Governments are committed to provide every basic amenity to the rural population. He further said that providing free gas connections in the name of the female head of a household under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a step to empower women besides protecting their health. He further said that scheme envisages to provide 5 crore free LPG connections to poor families across the country in upcoming 3 years.
On this occassion, BJP State Gen Secy Sunil Dutt (Raka), BJYM State Gen Secy Vikas Choudhary, Sarpanch Bhadrore Raghubir Singh, Ex- Sarpanch Flian Mandal Nehal Singh, Ex- Sarpanch Kulbushan Khajuria, Mandal President Kuldeep Singh & prominent people of the area were also present.
