Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today demanded that delimitation should be held in Jammu and Kashmir to full the political aspiration of Jammu division.
“For political empowerment of Jammu, delimitation is must and BJP Govt must implement in a time bound manner,” said Manjit Singh.
Since Jammu has more population, he said, the political right of people must be fulfilled so that employment, development and political empowerment is given to the neglected parts of the division.
“Unnecessary political storm has been created across Jammu and Kashmir on Art 370 and Art 35-A by the BJP which is not able to remove the special status of the State,” said Manjit Singh, former Minister while speaking at a party meeting in Vijaypur.
During the meeting, the District Congress Committee, president, said that BJP has only fooled the people of Jammu division on the name of discrimination, while this party failed to preform when they were in Govt with PDP.
“All developmental projects concerning tourism were stalled,” he alleged.
He further said that the BJP has mislead and ruled the State with PDP after getting 25 assembly seats.
“The discrimination continued with Jammu under BJP Govt too. Jammu tourism also faced problems yet the saffron party did not stop.
They again mustered courage to mislead people on the name of revoking special status which they cannot remove, he added.
Manjit Singh alleged that the industrial sector growth and share in government jobs dropped under BJP Govt.
“They failed to fulfill the promises they made during elections. They have nothing to hide from people,” he alleged.
The former Minister said that border residents on International Border have been suffering from decades and their reservation is a welcome step.
However, the IB people should be treated specially and their reservation should be enhanced, he demanded.
Meanwhile, the party workers projected various demands during the monthly meeting. The former minister impressed upon the party workers to strengthen the Congress Party at grass root level.
