UDHAMPUR ,08 June: Drawing the intention of NGT over the dumping all city waste at Tawi River Near Jakhani Udhampur, Former MLA & President Panthers Party Balwant Singh Mankotia today sends memorandum to Chairman NGT (National Green Tribunal) in this concern. He said that it is most serious issue of dumping all ctiy waste at Tawi river, Kheri Near Jakhani Udhampur from last 4 years which is making environment polluted and putting general public at greater health risk. Dumping station is hardly 500 metre from the City & adjoining the Jammu Srinagar National highway from where the tourists of All over India travel through there which also makes mockery of “Swachh Bharat” in Udhampur.
Expressing deep anguish, NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia said that since the waste from whole city is being dumped at Tawi River from where water supply is made to whole Udhampur City which is also causing environment polluted due to its burning, Also it is creating health issues for the locals and especially tourists coming from all over India who mainly pass through there, Mankotia added
Mankotia disclosed that As per the NGT act 2010, which is framed for the disposal of issues related to environment and it is a serious issue and that’s why we are approaching you to intervene the matter and take a serious note on it. He said that the people of the said area are suffering on the daily basis due to the dumping of the waste which is making the environment unsafe for the locals and putting hazardous health issues. Mankotia said that Panthers Party is deeply concerned over this issue & many times Protest Dharna has been staged regarding this but nothing has been done yet. He said that since the dumping of the waste at there is making the environment unhealthy for the locals which is the violation of Indian Constitutional Provision of Article 21, which assures the citizens of India the right to a healthy environment, Mankotia reveals
