Continuing his drive to construct facilities at public places and provide people better amenities, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chander Mohan Gupta today laid foundation stone for construction of a water tank and a canopy inside Yasho-Karan park near Ranbireshwar Temple. He was accompanied by BJP general secretary Yudhvir Sethi and Councilor Sh Anil Masoom.
Speaking after laying foundation stone, Chander Mohan Gupta said the water tank will facilitate pilgrims and those who visit park for walks. It will also act like a reservoir used for watering plants and turf so that beauty of park is maintained at all times. The canopy/shed constructed in the park, he added will help people find shade during summers and will protect them from rains as well.
Chander Mohan Gupta said Jammu known as City of Temples gets millions of visitors and every effort is being put in to beautify it and also add facilities to the existing infrastructure so that aesthetics of Jammu is maintained artistically. He said beautification project of flyover is also part of that drive to make Jammu look like a cultural hub of all faiths.
Yudhvir Sethi while thanking Mayor for the facilities added to the park said, several such places were lying abandoned and people were facing inconveniences. Now that roads and water points around these places are being developed, Jammu will look beautiful and also help pilgrims and locals to enjoy amenities.
He said old Jammu City is getting crowded and losing its charm but the efforts of Mayor Chander Mohan are helping it to revive its glory. Several shopkeepers on the insistence of Mayor have already removed encroachments and cleared carriageways for smooth flow of traffic. In days to come Jammu is going to be a beautiful city under able guidance of Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta.
