MeT Predicts Light to Moderate rain, Snow Over J&K During Next 24 Hours

SRINAGAR, Feb 19:
The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Wednesday predicted light to moderate rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
It said the weather will generally turn cloudy towards evening today with the possibility of light to moderate rain and snow at many places during the night to the evening of February 20.
The isolated higher reaches of Jammu division may experience moderate to heavy rain and snowfall on February 20, the MeT office said.
The main activity of weather is expected over Jammu region, Chenab valley and higher reaches of south Kashmir. The plains of Jammu may receive light to moderate rain, thunder with gusty winds at a few places.
The higher reaches of Chenab valley and south Kashmir may receive moderate snowfall with a depth of 7 to 12 inches while higher reaches of north and Central Kashmir may experience 4 to 8 inches of snowfall

during the period. During past 24 hours, night temperature has increased by 1-2°C over scattered parts of Jammu and Kashmir with lowest minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in ski resort of Gulmarg -3.4°C, the tourist resort of Pahalgam 1.7°C and Srinagar 3.5°C.
In Jammu division Bhaderwah recorded a low of 2.6°C, Banihal 3.5 °C.
During Past 24 hours, no Precipitation was observed over Jammu and Kashmir.
The day temperature has also risen by 4-6°C in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir with the highest temperature recorded at Kathua 25.6°C and Jammu 26.1°C on the previous day.
The day temperature in Kashmir valley rose by 5-6°C with Srinagar having a maximum of 15.7°C and the frontier Kashmir border district of Kupwara 17.1°C on Tuesday, the MeT office said.
