Mir tours Pampore constituency; directs desilting of Meebagh, Meej irrigation Khuls

Minister of State for Forest, PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Mir Zahoor Ahmad, today directed for immediate desilting of irrigation Khuls of Meebagh and Meej in the Pampore Constituency.
He also called for undertaking the necessary repairs and renovation of these Khuls (irrigation channels) on war-footing so that the farmers of the area are benefited.
These instructions were given by the Minister during his extensive tour to various areas in Pampore Constituency today.
While inspecting the Khuls, the Minister expressed dismay over the bad condition of the Khuls and asked the concerned to immediately start repair works and complete them in a time-bound manner. Chief Engineer I&FC, M. M. Shahnawaz and Senior Officers of I&FC and other district officers accompanied the Minister. During the tour, the Minister visited various areas including Konibal, Meej, Meebagh Manpora, Tulbagh and Wouyan in the Constituency to review the pace of various ongoing developmental works undertaken in the area under different sectors. He directed the officers to work with added zeal and ensure time-bound completion of these works so that their benefits percolate to the grass root level.
Interacting with the people at different places, the Minister said that the present government headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to improving the living standard of the people of the State. Referring to the developmental works under execution in the Pampore Constituency, the Minister said that the work on various developmental works are apace in the area and on completion of these projects it will change the socio-economic condition of the people of the area. He said efforts are afoot to make the Pampore a model Constituency of the State. He said several initiatives have already been taken in this regard and some are in pipeline. He said a special focus is being given to improve the basic infrastructure of all existing health and education institutions.
Later, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him about their individual and collective problems. The Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into.
