MLA Arvind Gupta dedicates 850-Ft Deep Drilled Tubewell to strengthen water supply in Jammu West

In a significant step towards strengthening clean and hygienic drinking water infrastructure, MLA Jammu West Constituency Arvind Gupta on Saturday handed over a newly constructed 850-feet deep drilled tubewell worth Rs 75 lakh near Kamdhenu Flats in district Jammu under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
The project has been executed by the Ground Water and Drilling Division of the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, Jammu, to address the long-standing demand for adequate and uninterrupted drinking water in the area.
The newly commissioned tubewell has a safe discharge capacity of approximately 60,000 litres per hour, which will significantly improve water availability for residents of Ward No. 27, Bakshi Nagar, and adjoining areas. The initiative is expected to reduce dependence on alternate water sources and ensure a more reliable supply to households.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arvind Gupta said that access to clean drinking water is a basic necessity and a top priority of his constituency development agenda.
He assured the general public that sustained efforts are being made to strengthen water infrastructure across Jammu West to meet present and future needs.
“Our focus is on providing clean, safe, and uninterrupted drinking water to every household. Projects like this tubewell are a step towards improving the quality of life of residents,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the development and expressed gratitude to the MLA for his proactive approach and continuous efforts in resolving long-pending public issues. They stated that the new tubewell would bring much-needed relief, especially during peak summer months.
Officials of the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department present on the occasion assured full cooperation for maintaining a sustainable water supply in the constituency.
Among those present were Er. Raj Kumar, Executive Engineer, Ground Water Drilling Division Jammu; Er. Sudesh Sharma, Executive Engineer, PHE North Division Jammu; Er. Mohinder Manhas, AEE GWDD Jammu; Er. Anil Katoch, AEE Medical Sub Division Jammu; Er. Vikas Chalotra, JE Mechanical GWDD; and Er. Raghav, JE Medical Sub Division Jammu.
Prominent persons including Dharm Veer Singh, Bawa Sharma, Mohit Vaid, Rekha Sharma, Arti Khajuria, Rohit Gupta, Amreek Singh, Suresh Gupta, Ashutosh Gupta, and Rakesh Gupta were also present, marking the occasion as a collective step towards improved civic amenities in Jammu West.
