MLA declares open Cricket Tourney at Ramban

RAMBAN, June 23:
Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Banihal, Vika Rasool Wani today declared open the district cricket tournament venue II of Banihal for JKCA Premier Championship at Railway Yard Lamber, here.
Commanding Officer 12 RR, SC Basera and senior cricketer, Abdul Gani Malik were guests of honour while Baihal Alyas Ahmed Wani and Mohd. Ashraf Wani were among other special guests.
The opening match won by Shah e Asrar Club beating Star XI Chamalawas by 22 runs. Earlier, batting first, Shah e Asrar made 130 runs losing all their wickets in 19.2 overs of the 22 runs game. Hiqmat remained top scorer with 46-ball 52 runs while Nasir contributed 17. From Star XI, Manzoor claimed three wickets. In reply, Star XI could make 109 runs for seven wickets to lose the game. Aijaz and Muzaffar were main contributors to the total with 31 and 14 runs respectively. Irshad Wani caused most of the damage taking away three wickets.
POONCH: Seri Cricket Club defeated Star Club Surankote by two wickets at Sports Stadium, here today. Batting first, after winning the toss, Star Club scored 117 runs in 23 overs losing all their wickets, which, in reply, Seri Club chased making 118 runs for eight wickets in 20.3 overs.
RAMBAN: Digdool XI today registered a 35 runs win against Police Lines XI in the Ramban District Cricket Tournament underway at Police Lines ground, here. Earlier, Digdool XI, batting first, scored 164 runs losing four wickets in 10 overs a side game. In reply, Police Lines XI could make 129 runs in allotted 20 overs for nine wickets.
KATHUA: Meanwhile, in Kathua district championship, Youngster XI today qualified for the final. In the first semifinal, decided today at Sports Stadium, here, Youngster XI trounced Dream XI Kathua by 43 runs. Batting first, Youngster XI set a target of 176 runs losing all their wickets in 29.5 overs of the 30 overs a side game, which, in reply, Dream XI could not chase and lost all their wickets for 132 runs in 25.2 overs.
