MLA Jammu East and party chief whip Rajesh Gupta started the work of the construction of a toilet complex and a change room at Parade Ground. The facilities are meant to be used by the players as changing room and wash room.The badly needed twin facilities were a big dampner and players always complained of the same during tournaments. The estimated cost of the project is rupees 11 lakhs.
MLA Rajesh Gupta was accompanied by the AEE Zulfikikar Shapoo from J&K Sports Council and the other prominent members who accompanied the MLA included Parade Sports Association President Vijay Sabharwal, Dr.Anil Mahajan, Sanjay Sharma, Randhir Singh Jamwal, Harsh Nayar, Pawan Gupta, Kapil Mahajan, R.P.Bedi,Rajinder Saini,Amarjeet Singh,Suresh Bharti, Manmeet Singh,Ashok Gupta, Bhanu Pratap, Sameer Khajuria, Sanjay Bali,Vikrant Sharma and also accompanied by SSP J&K Police Romesh Bhatt and Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer.
Rajesh Gupta while speaking on the occasion said that the recent showing of the Indian players in the just concluded Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast Australia proves that our country is also emerging as a sports nation.This shows that the government is committed to the promotion of sports in a big way and in our constituency also we are committed to provide all the facilities to our budding sportsman. He said that we have a lot of talent in the sports and we just need to provide them the necessary infrastructure in order to hone their talents.Rajesh Gupta said that we are going to build a modern mini stadium and we have also started a tournament by the name of Pt.Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament that now figures officialy in the sports calender of the council. Rajesh Gupta while speaking on the occasion said that Pt.Prem Nath Dogra was himself an avid sports person and we all draw our inspiration from him.
The prominents who accompanied the MLA included Karan Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Kuldeep Kandhari, Chandan Gupta, Raj Kumar,Prem ,Dinesh Varmani, Gopal Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Hari Om Sharma, Rajesh Nischal, Subhash Anand, Balkrishan, Darshan Singh and Rakesh Khanna.
