JAMMU, APR 17:
Mobile Internet services were suspended in Jammu district following protests after a carcass of a calf was found in the region today, the police said.
The carcass was found in a link road in Sarore area, 15km from here. A mob carried it to the Jammu-Pathakote highway and sat on a dharna, a police officer told PTI.
Police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the crowd. The protesters clashed with the policemen and resorted to stone-pelting, resulting in damage to some vehicles, the officer said.
Mobile Internet services has been suspended to prevent spread of rumours, Rajeev Ranjan, deputy commissioner (Jammu), said.
The carcass has been sent for post-mortem examination, Ranjan added.
