A month-long training-cum-certificate programme on ‘Social Accountability and Social Audit’ under MGNREGA for District Resource Persons culminated today at Institute of Management Public Administration & Rural Development (IMPARD), Jammu.
The Programme was sponsored by NIRD & PR, Hyderabad and TISS, Mumbai.
The training programme aimed at enhancing the skills of DRPs in conducting credible social audit with community participation.
Pertinently, the objectives of the training course were to build a perspective that gives primacy to inclusiveness and social justice in development, to build knowledge and information base about social audit experience, models, and methodologies.
A social audit team of Jharkhand led by Director Social Audit of the state also provided both classroom and field training to the participants. They also visited various worksites and conducted Social Audits in two Panchayats of Samba District.
Secretary Department of Rural Development & PR, Sheetal Nanda also interacted with the team during valedictory session and stressed on the importance of Social Audit. She said that the resource persons who participated in the month-long programme will serve as master trainers for rest of the social audit members.
