Lenovo-owned Motorola has confirmed that the Moto G6 series smartphones including the Moto G6 Play is not launching in India on May 21. Several news reports had earlier claimed that the next flagship Moto G6 series would be launched on May 21 to take on the latest OnePlus 6. However, Motorola has denied hosting any such launch event on May 21 for the Moto G6 series. The company further stated that the Moto G6 series smartphones would be launched on June 4 in the country.
Motorola is preparing to launch its Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play smartphones in India for quite some time. Both smartphones were first launched in Brazil in April along with the Moto E series. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Moto G6 sports a 5.7-inch full HD+ display and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. There is a dual-lens rear camera setup with a 12MP primary and 5MP secondary sensor along with an 8MP front-facing camera.
There could be two RAM variants of the Moto G6 — 3GB and 4GB. The smartphone is backed by a 3000mah battery and the company claims that the handset can deliver up to 32 hours of battery life on a single charge. There is a fingerprint sensor at the front.
On the other hand, the Moto G6 Play will be more affordable. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 processor. It will be available in two RAM and storage variants—2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The Moto G6 Play comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) display. On the camera front, there is a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture along with a 5MP front camera. The device will be backed by a 4000mAh battery.
Both smartphone will support expandable storage of up to 128GB via microSD card slot. On the connectivity front, both smartphones feature 4G VoLTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, FM Radio and 3.5 mm headphone jack. While the Moto G6 offers USB Type-C connectivity, the Moto G6 Play comes with a micro USB port.
