Jammu, Sep 16:
Movement Kalki has raised concerns over two serious issues in Jammu: a recent Love Jihad case and the abuse of an elderly widow. The organization calls upon authorities and the public to take immediate action to ensure justice for the victims.
Love Jihad Case in JammuAdvocate Sumeshwar Kohli, while addressing the media, highlighted a shocking Love Jihad case in Jammu. A minor girl from a poor Hindu family was allegedly trapped in a love affair by a Muslim youth pretending to be Hindu. The girl, a student of the 8th grade, was taken outside Jammu and Kashmir, where she was pressured to convert to Islam. Despite an FIR being filed under Sections 363 and 376 of the IPC, the police have yet to fully investigate the Love Jihad angle.
Movement Kalki’s legal team has filed for further investigation, identifying other co-accused, including individuals who were pressuring the girl to embrace Islam. Despite multiple requests to senior police officials, no significant progress has been made. Movement Kalki appeals to the media to highlight this case to ensure justice is served.
Elder Abuse Under the Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007
In another case, Movement Kalki has taken up the cause of a 72-year-old widow who has been subjected to severe abuse by her family. The widow, who inherited property from her late husband, is being physically beaten, mentally tortured, and coerced by her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson into transferring ownership of her property.
Despite filing complaints with Panjtirthi Police Post and Pacca Danga Police Station, the widow’s pleas have been dismissed as a civil matter. However, the abuse falls under criminal law, particularly the Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
Movement Kalki has lodged a formal complaint with the SSP Jammu, but no action has been taken so far. The organization appeals to the media to bring attention to this grave injustice and help ensure the safety and rights of the elderly widow.
Movement Kalki remains committed to fighting for justice and will continue to bring these critical social issues to the forefront.
