Back in 2004, filmmaker Anurag Basu had introduced Kangana Ranaut in his crime-drama ‘Gangster’, which also featured Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. The actress had made an instant impression in her debut and bagged some coveted awards. Fourteen years later, Kangana and her mentor are all set to team up for the fourth time for a film interestingly titled ‘Imali’. Apparently, Kangana who is currently in London filming Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Mental Hai Kya’ with Rajkummar Rao, is apparently playing the protagonist in what is touted to be a young urban love story. But before starting off ‘Imali’, the actress will wrap up Ashwini Iyer Tiwary’s kabaddi drama which rolls in October. “The prep for Imali is expected to begin by August but the film should roll only towards the year-end. The search for the male lead is on,” informed a source close to the development. While everyone will be certainly excited to see them team up again, it seems that Kangana wants us to hold our horses. When asked about the project, she said, “It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the end of the year. This year seems to be the year for major big-budget period movies. One such much-awaited period drama is ‘Panipat’ which is being helmed by the filmmaker who is known for his larger-than-life films, Ashutosh Gowariker. Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who has always been fascinated by historical dramas, is set to make a movie on ‘Panipat’, which will tell the story of what led to the third Battle of Panipat.
He has chosen Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon for the ambitious project, for which Gowariker has joined hands with Rohit Shelatkar’s Vision World. On the casting, Gowariker said in a statement, “I have shared screen space with Sanjay in ‘Naam’, which was a memorable co-acting experience and now it will be great to direct such a versatile and immensely talented actor as him.”
It was being reported that cinematographer Kiran Deohans was being roped in by Ashutosh for ‘Panipat’. However, Ashutosh took to Twitter to refute these rumours and said, “Contrary to RUMOURS – Kiran Deohans was never considered for the Cinematography of #Panipat My #DirectorOfPhotography is – C. K. MURALEEDHARAN. Prep is ON across all fronts.
