Ratlam, Jan 24 : Madhya Pradesh witnessed fourth ‘political killing’ within seven days on Wednesday as the body of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader with throat slit was found in Ratlam district. The ruling Congress has not released any statement in connection with the incidents.
The deceased has been identified as RSS leader Himmat Patidar. His body was recovered from near an agricultural plot in Kamed village. As per the police, the suspect tried to burn the face of the deceased but could not succeed. Asserting that the evidence claim that the leader was hacked to death, the police informed that the accused has been identified and efforts are on to arrest him. Former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the culprit.
“Ratlam mein Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ke swayamsevak Shri Himmat Patidar ko saadar shradhanjali arpit karta hun. Unki hayta ki khabar se man vyathit hai. Sarkar se un hathiyaron ko sheegra pakadne ki maang karta hun (My heartiest condolences to RSS leader Shri Himmat Patidar. I am deeply hurt with the news of his murder. Urge government to nab his killers at the earliest),” Chouhan tweeted. In another post, he attacked the newly-formed Kamal Nath government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
In similar incidents, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manoj Thakre was brutally found murdered in state Home Minister Bala Bachchan’ns native district Barwani on January 20. The Mandsaur Nagar Palika chief and BJP leader Prahlad Bhandwar was shot dead by an unidentified person in the district. Bandhwar was attacked when he was standing outside District Cooperative Bank, located in Nai Abadi area, at around 7 PM. A hunt for the killer was launched by the police.
On Monday, another man Chhatar Singh Rawat, whose brother is a BJP leader was also found murdered in Gwalior district.
