Under the aegis of Directorate of Ayush J&K, Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu in collaboration with Project Poshan ICDSKotBhalwal, a one day workshop on Ayush based Dietetics and Nutrition was organized as a part of 7thPoshanMaah Celebration under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Mohan Singh Director Ayush J&K and supervision of Dr. VandanaDogra. Medical Superintendent GAH Jammu, DrArunaBhat Deputy Medical Superintendent GAH. Sh. Pankaj District Program Officer, Poshan Project ICDS and Sh. MohitBharti, CDPO KotBhalwal, Poshan Project were also present in the collaborative program organized by the two institution. In this workshop, Anganwadi Workers were sensitized about the strengths of traditional systems of medicines in achieving the goals of 7thPoshanMaah viz. Anemia eradication, Growth Monitoring, Holistic Nutrition as part of weaning practices, Use of Poshan Calculator, PoshanVatika etc. through detailed presentations, IEC material by Dr. Arun Gupta, resource person from Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital.
All the participants were also briefed about Yoga Interventions for maintain holistic health and well being of the beneficiaries of ICDS Project. 70 ICDS functionaries including ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi helpers and ASHAs were also present in the workshop.
Dr. VandanaDogra, MS Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital briefed about the need of integration of Ayush based nutritional wisdom in planning dietary and nutritional interventions for the women and children. She highlighted the T3- Talk, Test and Treat strategy for Anemia mitigation and prevention. She emphasized upon the convergence of ICDS functionaries and utilization of VHND platform for anemia eradication and promotion of Ayush based super foods and Dietary practices. Sh. PankajAnand, DPO ICDS also emphasized the intersectoral convergence between AYUSH and ICDS for better implementation of all the focus areas of PoshanMaah. Dr. ArunaBhat, Deputy Medical Superintendent informed the Anganawadi functionaries about various out reach activities of the Directorate of Ayush and Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and the areas of convergence. Sh. MohitBharti, CDPO KotBhalwal appreciated the role of Ayush and need for organizing such enlightening programs at regular intervals. The program began with Deep prajwalan and DhanwantriStawan and followed by the presentation.
A small exhibition of various traditional recipes was also organized by the Anganwadi functionaries. The Program culminated with the plantation of fruit bearing trees in ArogyaVatika of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu on the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister. Interns of the Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital also attended the program.
