JAMMU, Sept 17:
Nagrota wrestler Muneer Khan lifted the 18th Annual Ser Sundwan Kesari Dangal defeating Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police in the main bout that lasted for 17 minutes at Government High School Ser Sundwan in tehsil Bhamag of district Reasi.
Dangal was organized by SerSundwan Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of president Dangal Committee Nasib Singh, chief organizer Master Dhani Ram and Vachiter Singh.
Former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief Guest who distributed cash prizes worth Rs 1.6 lakh among the wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided.
Members of Shiv Khori Shrine Board and senior Congress leader Sardari Lal Dubey as also Tehsildar Bhamag, Akshay Kumar Rajan were the guests of honour. Prominent among others present included Headmaster Baldev Singh, Headmaster Dhani Ram, Rumal Singh, Girdwar Abdul Rashid, Sub Inspector Pardeep Singh and Rattan Lal.
Earlier, winner of main bout Muneer Khan was cash awarded with Rs 6,000 while runners-up, Ranjeet received Rs 5,000.
In all, 66 bouts decided in this day-long dangal. The second main bout went to Vijay of Bai Bajalta who defeated Ali of Kathua. In third bout Murad Ali of Nagrota outplayed Balwan Singh of J&K Police while fourth bout between Chain Singh of Reasi and Sahil of Jammu ended in a draw. The fifth bout won by Anil of Danda Bagan who defeated Shammi of Jammu.
Members and technical officials who helped for smooth conduct of Dangal included Nasib Singh (president), Numberdar Uttan Singh, Dhani Ram (Headmaster), Vachiter Singh, Raspaul Singh, Kapoor Singh, Bodh Raj, Gian Chand, Angrej Singh, Balwan Singh, Amar Nath, Tara Mani, Kapoor Chand, Pawan Singh, Nazir Ahmed, Lochan Singh, Murli Dhar (Muna), Sunny Sharma, Dheeraj Kesar and Puran Chand.
