Patna, SEP 20 :
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four persons, including the then Assistant Director of Bihar’s Social Welfare Department, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of 34 girl inmates at a Muzaffarpur shelter home.
The government official detained by the agency has been identified as Rozy Rani, while three others — Guddu, Santosh and Vijay — are staffers of main accused Brajesh Thakur. “Searches are being carried out on their premises,” said an official.
It is alleged that Ms. Rani is being probed for abetment to commit crime under the POCSO Act, as she did not take any action despite repeated complaints by the victims during her visits to the shelter home between 2015 and 2017. The CBI has also seized 20 bank accounts linked to Mr. Thakur and prevented all the suspects from disposing of immovable and movable assets of the shelter home.
