Transport Commissioner, S. Rajinder Singh Tara today spreadhead a plantation drive held in the Regional Transport Office premises. The drive was organised by Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra as a part of ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada campaign.
This event was a part of a broader effort to promote cleanliness, environmental sustainability and community involvement. Swachhta Pakhwara, a fortnight long campaign is being observed throughout India from 01-08-2024 to 14-08-2024 which is dedicated to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation.
As part of this initiative MVD took a significant step towards greening the environment by planting trees with active participation from Officers and officials/staff members. During the drive, various saplings of Rudraksh, Neem, Gulmohar etc. were planted within the RTO office premises by the Transport Commissioner, the Joint Transport Commissioner and the staff of RTO Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Commissioner said, “Swachhta Pakhwada is not just about cleanliness; it’s about fostering a culture of responsibility towards our environment. Through initiatives like the tree plantation drive, we aim to contribute to a healthier and greener planet. We are proud to see the overwhelming support from the community and our team.”
The Transport Commissioner stressed upon the Regional Transport Officer Jammu to replicate such plantation drives in ARTO offices of all the districts. He highlighted the crucial role of trees in supporting human life and the need for their conservation.
