conducted an investigation into the matter but the correct facts could not be ascertained.”
Yasmeena was the lone surviving child of Mohammad Aslam, who has now lost all six of his children—four daughters and two sons—to the unexplained illness. The family tragedy has also claimed the lives of Aslam’s maternal uncle and aunt, making it a total of 17 deaths within a week.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo has reassured the public that there is no need to panic, ruling out the possibility of a viral infection or contagious disease. She cited tests conducted at multiple institutions across India, which reportedly found no evidence of such causes.
In the meantime, a high-level team from the Union Government arrived in Badhaal on Sunday to investigate the cause of the mysterious deaths.
