National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a one day workshop on Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) Scheme at Samba. The workshop was organised by Surinder Singh, District Development Manager of NABARD. Representatives from different banks, Agricultural institutions and progressive farmers attended this workshop. While speaking on the occasion Singh highlighted that the AMI scheme is launched by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India and implemented through Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI). NABARD is the subsidy channelizing partner in the scheme. The scheme aims at development of marketing infrastructure to effectively handle and manage marketable surpluses of agricultural and allied produce.
The AMI scheme envisages back ended capital subsidy for credit linked investment in eligible storage and marketing infrastructure projects. The eligible subsidy ranges from 25% to 33.33% of the capital cost depending upon the area and category of beneficiary. Capacity of 50-5000 MT for all categories of promoters across the country and Capacity of 50-10000 MT for State agencies, in all the States/UTs are eligible for claiming subsidy under the scheme. Thread bare discussions on smooth implementation of the scheme were held. A detailed presentation on the guidelines of the scheme was made during the workshop.
