The Nadigar Sangam recently issued a red card to producer Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises (who has bankrolled projects including Vikram Prabhu’s Veera Sivaji, Vishal’s Kaththi Sandai and Vijay Sethupathi’s latest 96) for not paying actors’ remuneration even after their films hit screens. Apparently, it is being said that Vijay Sethupathi wasn’t given a part of his salary for 96.A source close to Sethupathi said that the actor had to endure loss so that the film had a smooth release. “The morning shows of 96 got cancelled because of this issue and if Vijay hadn’t intervened, the film wouldn’t have been released on time. He paid Rs 1.5 crore out of his pocket,” he added.The press release further stated that Nadigar Sangam won’t encourage and cooperate with Madras Enterprises, or any other production houses that indulge in similar activities. “When a film faces some trouble, many actors agree to take their pending salary later. But this has unfortunately led to a situation where a production company dodges and fails to pay the dues. To start with, we’ve requested our members not to collaborate with Madras Enterprises for any of their films,” read the release.
