HYDERABAD:, APR 25,
Former State Minister and senior BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy joined the Congress party in the presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Accompanied by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President, N.Uttam Kumar Reddy and AICC in-charge R.C.Khuntia, Mr. Gandhi formally inducted Mr. Nagam, BJP leader Adi Srinivasa (Vemulawada constituency, Sircilla Rajanna district) and Surya, son of balladeer Gadar.
Interestingly, all those who joined the party today have switched their loyalties from the BJP.
Mr. Reddy, a senior TDP leader, who held several key positions in the party including the ministerial berths in N.Chandrababu Naidu cabinet differed with the party at the height of separate Telangana statehood agitation. He was elected five times from Nagarkurnool Assembly constituency having made his debut in 1984. He joined the BJP in 2013 and continued in the party till his crossing over to the Congress.
For Mr. Adi Srinivas, the other BJP leader, it is homecoming as he was with the Congress previously.
It was his petition against the Vemulawada TRS MLA Ch. Ramesh over the latter’s citizenship that led to disqualification of the legislator.
