In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, actress Nargis Fakhri shared her thoughts on food, fitness, and maintaining health amid the unpredictability of her profession. Nargis broke down misconceptions about dieting and opened up about the simple yet mindful choices that guide her lifestyle.For Nargis, the word diet often carries unnecessary confusion. She emphasized that it should not be reduced to a weight-loss tool alone. She stated, “A lot of people think, ‘I’m on a diet because I want to lose weight.’ But there is nothing you can do to lose weight except count your calories. It’s simple math. What you put in has to be less than what you burn.”While calorie control forms the foundation of weight loss, she cautioned against relying solely on empty foods. She said, “You can eat one piece of chocolate cake a day and still lose weight if it fits your calories, but then your skin, hair and energy levels will suffer. Nutrient density matters.” She believes it is essential to experiment with eating patterns—whether intermittent fasting, small frequent meals, or one meal a day—to see what feels right for the body.
