POONCH, JANUARY 24: National girl child day was celebrated here today by organizing a program on the theme “Save Girl Child” by ICDS Department in coordination with District Administration.
District Development Commissioner Rahul Yadav was the chief guest on the occasion.
The program started with an impressive cultural program on the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”.
A Symposium was also organized in which Girls from different educational institutions took part and delivered thought provoking speeches on Save Girl Child theme. The Girls in their speech highlighted the importance of safety, education and development of Girls.
The DDC Poonch congratulated participants on the Girl Child Day and appealed them to spread the message of save girl child. He motivated the girl students to continue their higher studies and pursue the career of their own choice. He urged upon the civil society to bring in the notice of District Administration any type of injustice or crime against females.
ASP Adil Hamid and Principal GDC Poonch also spoke on the occasion. ASP Adil emphasized on role of women as Mother, Sister and wife. He said girl child is the most precious gift to man from God. Principal M H Khan extended his greetings and congratulated the District Administration for organizing such type of program.
Meritorious girls of Poonch were given cash prize for their excellent performance in studies. The winners and runners up of Painting competition and Symposium were also facilitated by the chief Guest on the occasion.
PO ICDS , CDPO Haveli, Mandi, Surankote, Bufliaz and Mendhar beside others were also present on the occasion.
