Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) in association with grass root animal rights activists marked the 6th anniversary of its Living Free campaign with a nationwide event named ‘Have a Heart’. The purpose of the event was to make people realise how similar the heartbeats of all animals are to ours so that we can make a deep emotional connection with them and change our attitude towards them.
The ‘Have a Heart’ event was carried out simultaneously in 35 cities across India. According to Malvika KaIra, the FIAPO Leader in Jammu, “The activity was yet another innovative idea for reaching out to people with the message of compassion, justice and nonviolence towards helpless nonhuman animals who we regard as mere commodities, whereas in reality they are living, breathing beings with feelings just like us.”
The event was well received by the people at Bahu Plaza and according to a volunteer, “With growing awareness, there is hope that when people look beyond societal conditioning, they make the right decision by going vegan so that innocent animals can be spared from human exploitation”.
