This Sunday, Natrang presented a creatively designed presentation of Saadat Hasan Manto’s ‘Rooh Ka Natak’. The play was very ably directed by Bipan Gupta. The concept and content of the story got audience engrossed in the impact of the play. The storyline of the play exhibited the vast range of the writer’s imagination which was much ahead of his times.
The play ‘Rooh Ka Natak’ presented highest level of imagination where different shades of soul were shown representing different emotions. The representation of conscious, sub-conscious and un-conscious mind which is experienced by all of us was brilliantly portrayed by the writer. We are different at different emotional levels and people around us make our image in their minds as per their perception. Though highly imaginative and intellectual, the play carried a strong message regarding the existence of several personalities within a person. A simple story of a husband who betrays his wife as he was trapped in the love of a dancer was projected in such a dramatic manner that each level revealed different shade of the psychology of the character which is not correlated with one-another.
It was very interesting to see two actors enacting one character with different personality traits.
Natrang actors who acted in the play included Manoj Kumar Lalotra, Zeeshan Haider, Vrinda Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Deepali Sharma, Sushant Singh Charak and Jatin Sharma. The lights of the play were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant whereas the sound was rendered by Bipan Gupta. The show was ably conducted by Gopi Sharma.
At the culmination of the play Natrang Director complimented the young director Bipin Gupta who is a product of Satyajeet Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata for a slick presentation and also announced that Natrang is going to organize a freshers Theatre workshop starting from Monday, 12th of November, 2018 at 2.30 pm at Natrang Studio Theatre Jammu and desired all aspirants of Acting above the age of 16 years to join that.
